Simon Reicher – Green is the color of the Sachsenring

Last year, the color green was dominant at the Sachsenring. 2,000 enthusiastic visitors with green hats of the Saxony-based Team YACO-Racing decorated the grandstands with the color of hope, creating a sensational atmosphere off the track. “It would be awesome to also cause a sensation on the track this year!”, the sympathetic youngster Simon Reicher explains. This coming weekend, September 7 through 9, the number 54 TCR-driver will try his luck on the high-speed circuit close to Chemnitz.

“The ‘Roller Coaster’, as we drivers also call the 3,671-meter track, is very similar to Zandvoort”, says the Austrian. “The circuit’s layout is challenging, but absolutely awesome. I know that it suits me, particularly due to the ups and downs, hence the title ‘roller coaster’.” For YACO-Racing, the Sachsenring is like the living room of racetracks, situated only 60 kilometers away from the team’s headquarters.

The young racer, therefore, has only one plan for the sixth event of the ADAC TCR Germany: make use of the team’s home-race advantage and build on the performance from Zandvoort. After all, the Kirchberg-native was one of the fastest on the Dutch track. With position two in the qualification and as third off the grid in the second race, the Audi pilot had no reasons to hide. “It may well be that I’m very impatient currently”, Reicher comments on his recent results. He makes clear that he was not satisfied with the course of the second race and finishing it in sixth place: “At this point, it would just be sweet to bring a great starting position home to the finish line! A podium for our team would be more than a huge thanks for the hard work.”

It seems as though only the youngster himself is impatient and dissatisfied. “We are very confident about our talented Simon Reicher for the coming races”, team manager Uwe Geipel expresses his content with the performance shown in Zandvoort. “Besides, we finally defeated our season-long issue of standard parts breaking all the time. The series of defective parts has been fixed. It would be nice if it stays that way on our home track and we do not have any unpleasant surprises. We put our bets on the color of hope, making green our team color!”

New race, new luck. The race against the clock begins on Saturday, September 8, at 9:00 and 9:30 AM, when ADAC TCR Germany pilot Simon Reicher enters the qualification rounds. All sessions and races can be seen on SPORT1, SPORT1+, and online in the livestream at adac.de/motorsport, as well as on the social media sights Facebook and YouTube.
