When the preparations for the 48th edition of the 24 hour race start next Thursday (September 24), the 20-year-old Austrian Simon Reicher will finally be actively participating as a driver in this legendary event. “I can’t wait since weeks. The twenty-four-hour races at Le Mans and Nürburgring are definitely the greatest highlights and most influential events in my young motorsport career. These two races carry so much significance in motorsports,” said the youngster.

The student of Graz is no longer a newcomer on the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife. But a 24-hour race has its very own special charm. It is very difficult to keep a cool head in advance, as the GT driver reports: “I am full of joy, I am excited and, above all, eager to see what expects me. A friend and Gentleman Driver told me not to worry. Especially at night, when half of the vehicles are no longer on the circuit, the Nordschleife apparently turns cozy. I’m not sure how to rate his comments yet. „

Another unknown variable for the young Austrian is likely to be the weather. All forecasts currently project rain. “To be honest, I have no idea what to expect. I will try to keep the Audi on the circuit and not damage anything. Speed and a fast lap time are important, but I think it’s even more important to finish without damage. Every lap, every hour of driving propels me and my motorsports career. I will certainly not do anything stupid during my first attempt on the Nordschleife. If possible, I’ll of course push to get a good result. Maybe something is going on in our car classification and we can make it to the podium? Who knows – I’m ready. „

The first time is always special and will be remembered again and again. It is by far not his first 24 hour race, but this is the first legendary edition for the Kirchberg-native. “I dreamed of it as a child. To be so close to it makes my emotions ride like a roller coaster. I am very grateful to my partners and especially to my father for giving me this opportunity, ”said Simon Reicher.
